IS WATER IN EUROPE REALLY BAD FOR MY SKIN AND HAIR?

In Europe, water is not as clean as we think. In addition to chlorine, our water contains heavy metals (such as magnesium, calcium, copper, lead, or arsenic) and other contaminants from human activities — such as pesticides that end up in the supply network via agricultural land, chemical waste from factories, urban wastewater, or old rusted pipes. We created the Jolie Water Report to raise public awareness about the chemicals present in their shower water. This report is based on public data and contains measurements of over 99 contaminants that may be present in your shower water.

WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENS TO MY SKIN AND HAIR WHEN I USE CONTAMINATED WATER?

Since the skin is the largest organ in our body, when we shower, we absorb water like a sponge. Showering with dirty water therefore has significant consequences on your beauty routine: premature aging, dry skin, acne, dandruff, psoriasis, damaged hair, to name just a few. Showering with clean water is an essential step in our daily routine for optimal skin, hair, and well-being.

I'VE HEARD OF "HARD WATER" AND "SOFT WATER." WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Hard water is water that contains a high concentration of dissolved minerals (such as calcium and magnesium). Soft water, on the other hand, has been treated so that the only ion present is sodium. When rainwater falls, it is naturally soft. However, as it seeps into the ground and enters our waterways, it absorbs minerals such as chalk, lime, calcium, and magnesium, thus becoming hard water. Hard water is responsible for spots on dishes, dull-looking clothes, and soap scum and residue in bathrooms. Soap and shampoos are also less effective with hard water due to its reaction with magnesium and calcium, which makes the lather less creamy and abundant and leaves hair sticky and dull.

Just like a Brita filter, our ORITUELS filter uses water pressure to push water through our removable filter. When designing our filter, we focused on the two best filter materials suitable for shower conditions: hot water and high flow.

Will the ORITUELS product affect my shower's water pressure?

The ORITUELS model was designed and manufactured to optimize the pressure from your pipes and will not reduce the existing pressure.

Should I change or replace the filter?

Yes! ORITUELS uses state-of-the-art filtration technology. By studying and testing other shower filters, we found that their advertised "six-month lifespan" actually turned out to be less than three months, and that chlorine reduction rates of over 90% were only valid for the first week. ORITUELS has designed a filter that lasts 3 months.

HOW DID YOU VERIFY THAT IT WORKED?

We had independent bodies – among the most reputable in Europe – carry out tests to confirm that the filtered showerhead removes more than 85% of chlorine throughout the filter's life, assuming that several people take at least one shower a day for 90 days using the same ORITUELS showerhead.

STEP ONE

Remove your old shower head with the special wrench that comes with every ORITUELS shower head.

STEP TWO

ORITUELS comes with a filter already installed, so you don’t need to install one. But to make sure, unscrew the faceplate and check that the filter is in place.


ALMOST DONE

Using the provided tape, wrap the exposed pipe’s threaded portion twice and then cut. Simply screw ORITUELS on until snug. Take the wrench and tighten firmly to ensure no leaks.

DOES THIS FIT ANY SHOWER?

Yes! In Europe, the standard thread for modern shower heads is 1/2 inch. As long as the shower hose comes out of the ceiling or the wall, you will be able to install your ORITUELS.

IS THERE AN IDEAL TEMPERATURE FOR TAKING A SHOWER?

Most dermatologists recommend maintaining an average temperature between 36.7°C and 38.3°C, but cold showers also offer significant benefits for stimulating blood circulation... So, it's up to you to choose.

I feel like we waste a lot of water by taking long showers. What do you think?

According to the EPA, a shower averages about eight minutes. With a standard showerhead having a flow rate of 2.1 gallons per minute, each shower consumes over 16 gallons of water! In Europe, we consume over a trillion gallons of water each year just by showering. So, while the idea of showering for hours under pure, uncontaminated, freshly running water might seem appealing, it's important to remember that every drop counts. So, be quick and conscious of your consumption!... Perhaps you could set a timer.
